Los Angeles, CA – The NAACP Hollywood Bureau applauds FOX television network for BROTHERS, the new comedy premiering this Friday, Sept. 25 (8:00-9:00 PM ET/PT) on FOX. The half-hour sitcom stars NFL champion Michael Strahan as "Mike Trainor," a former football player who moves back to his parents’ house in Houston and finds that living with his brother again and under his parents' roof definitely has its challenges. CCH Pounder and Carl Weathers play Mike's parents "Adele" and "Coach," and Daryl “Chill” Mitchell plays Chill, Mike's brother.
“BROTHERS is one of only a few family comedies currently on network television and the only network series featuring an African-American family. We applaud FOX for including BROTHERS on their 2009 fall schedule and salute the network and the series producers for making a groundbreaking comedy that is fresh and inventive, while still accurately portraying real-life situations facing many American families today. We encourage our members and all American families to watch BROTHERS," said Vic Bulluck, executive director of the NAACP's Hollywood Bureau.
Founded in 1909, the NAACP is the nation's oldest and largest civil rights organization. Its members throughout the United States and the world are the premier advocates for civil rights in their communities, conducting voter mobilization and monitoring equal opportunity in the public and private sectors.
